"Elijah, I don't..."
"What's the worst that could happen..."
"Have a good day at..."
"You've never had..."
"The current temperature is..."
"You can't eat all those..."
"Sell the kids for food..."
"Don't have any grenades left after..."
"Are you there..."
"...Bathroom, and then..."

"... Get the cadavers in here."

The ground was slippery and moist. Pushing his arms up, Elijah staggered to his feet. He was in a large empty gym, with a stage set up at the front. He walked back to the bleachers, and sat down. Looking around the empty room, he saw people and non-humans alike begin to manifest into reality.
Looking around, he saw various icons from shows he enjoyed, such as Peter Griffin, Homer Simpson, Kenny McCormick, and many others, even though he knew they couldn't be real, as they were animated.
Sitting next to him was an anthropomorphic fox. Wearing nothing but a green t-shirt and jeans, the fox stared off to the stage.
Elijah looked at the fox with great interest.
"Who are you? You look... familiar."
The fox ignored him, instead focused on the stage.
Elijah looked at the fox closer. He tried to remember why he looked so familier, but he couldn't place the reason why.
"Do I know you?"
The fox continued to ignore him.
Elijah looked next to him. Sitting there was a being he knew very well.
The Rainbow Pegasus likewise ignored Elijah.
"Hey, I watch your show! I really like it!"
Then he remembered she was a cartoon character, and couldn't be real.
"Am I dreaming?"
The pegasus ignored him still, just staring off at the stage.
Elijah pouted, then noticed another icon he knew very well.
It was Jason, from a comic strip he liked, called Foxtrot.
Jason looked up and elijah ran down the bleachers toward him.
Elijah was not expecting him to answer.
"You heard me?
"Well yeah. I'm not deaf."
Elijah smiled. He hadn't read the comic recently, but he owned all of the books that had been published so far. A lot of his earlier childhood was comprised of reading those amazing strips.
"Do you know why everyone else is ignoring me?"
Jason looked off to the side, avoiding eye contact.
Elijah gave Jason a hard look.
Jason looked uncomfortable.
"Look, Elijah, I think they are just waiting for the show to start."
Elijah looked at Jason, confused.
As if to answer him, the lights went out, and suddenly, they were trained on the stage. Elijah looked at the stage, and something impossible happened.
Kurt Cobain walked up to the mic.
"Alright, I've been doing gigs like this for awhile, and the lucky winner to get me to play at their 'Going Away Party' is sitting there, right in the front row!"
Elijah looked around to see everyone looking at him.
Kurt Cobain continued.
"You got real lucky, kid! You got some pretty big celebrities here! Of course, they can't stay long, they have other places to be, but I guess they can stay for one song."
Elijah's face lit up. Was he really going to hear Nirvana play live? Indeed, the two other members of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, were also up on stage.
"What song do you want?"
"Smells Like Teen Spirit!" Almost everyone in the crowd chanted.
"Guys, I don't do that one. Let's let the VIP choose here."
It took a few seconds to sink in before Elijah realized he had meant him.
"Oh! Um... In Bloom, I guess?"
Kurt smiled. "In Bloom it is!"
The band started to play the song. Elijah always enjoyed this song. He too liked Smells Like Teen Spirit, but Kurt apparently didn't play that anymore.
"Sell the kids for food... Weather changes mood..."
Elijah started to hum along with the song. It was truly a great song.
"He's the one who likes all our pretty songs..."
Elijah listened to the whole song.
It was great.
Then, he got around to talking with Jason while Nirvana took other requests. He and Jason really hit off. They laughed and joked, and even though Elijah was 14 and Jason was 10, Jason's intellect was around that of a 16 year old, so they went together pretty well.
After that, Elijah managed to catch Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. They were both great to talk to, very interesting. He learned a lot about Equestria from them.
He also managed to catch Kenny McCormick before he left to go off to another gig. Kenny shared Elijah's brash and perverted sense of humor, and was a decently well rounded indevidual to talk to. He was great.
Then, Elijah got to do something he wanted to all his life. He got to talk to Kurt Cobain during one of the intermissions between songs.
Kurt was funny, and a very worthwhile person to talk to. He was a tormented person, Elijah could tell from some of the things he let slip in conversation, but was overall a nice guy.
"So, did you actually kill yourself?"
"Nope! I'll tell you who it was who killed me."
"I know! It was Courtney love, wasn't it?"
Kurt laughed again.
"Nope. It was the gardener."
Elijah smiled. "Huh. Would've never guessed."
Kurt grinned. "No one ever did."
Elijah was having a great time. It was basically like a huge party. Then, he came across something that troubled him.
It was the fox boy.
He was sitting on a bleacher high up, playing on a gameboy. Elijah went over to him.
The fox continued to ignore him.
Elijah looked at the fox.
"I like your jeans."
"So your part fox. That's cool."
"Well, whatever. If you don't want to talk to me in my own dream, then that's cool."
The fox stopped playing his gameboy, and looked up.
"What did you just say?"
"Well, obviously none of this is real. I must be dreaming."
The fox looked at Elijah.
"This is real alright. this is your going away party."
"My going away party? What am I going away from?"
"Life, of course."
Elijah felt his heart skip a beat.
"Yeah, you're dead."
Elijah felt like he had been hit in the face with a car.
"Yup. You got hit in the face with a car. Severe brain damage, and you died.
So that explained that feeling.
"So... I got all of this as going away party?"
"Then why are you here?"
The fox looked at him. "I'm your Fursona. I'm always stuck with you. I'll follow you always."
Elijah remembered why he was familier now.He had been a furry, and made a fox fursona named...
"Are you Gabe?"
The fox nodded.
"When do we leave?"
Gabe looked at his watch.
"Right about... now."
Elijah felt himself getting lighter, and happier.
"Hey, Kurt, can you play Smells Like Teen Spirit, please?"
"I always end up doing it anyway. All right. Enjoy it as your last song!"
Elijah's world was becoming brighter, and filled with light.
"Load up on guns, bring your friends, it's fun to lose and to pretend..."
Elijah could feel his body separating, and assimilating. It wasn't bad, in fact, it felt... natural.
"Our Little group, it's always been, and always will until the end..."
Elijah looked over at Gabe. He too was being absorbed by a mass of light.
"Where are we gonna go?"
"I don't know."
"You ready for this?"
"I guees. Are you?"
Elijah thought for a bit.
"Ready as I'll ever be."
Elijah looked up at the ceileing. It was a bright blue sky.
He could feel himself being lifted up.
He closed his eyes.
And he was gone.
